More small businesses are gaining access to Google’s Gemini-powered Business Profile tools as the company’s phased rollout continues. While the AI features were first announced in June, they are gradually becoming available to additional eligible users, giving business owners a new way to manage listings, customer reviews and performance insights directly through the Gemini web app.
The rollout marks another step in Google’s effort to integrate generative AI into the tools that many local businesses already use every day. Instead of switching between multiple dashboards, eligible users can interact with their Google Business Profile using natural language prompts inside Gemini.
Once connected, Gemini can help business owners update profile information such as opening hours, contact details and action links. It can also draft replies to customer reviews, create Business Profile posts, summarise customer feedback and provide insights into profile performance, including search keywords that customers use to find the business.
Google has also introduced Business notebooks, a dedicated workspace within Gemini that brings together Business Profile data, uploaded documents and previous conversations. The notebooks are designed to provide proactive recommendations, helping businesses identify missing profile information, monitor customer feedback and generate marketing ideas based on their own business data.
The company says the features are still being released gradually, meaning not every eligible business owner will see them immediately. At present, the integration is available only through the Gemini web app and requires users to manage a single verified Google Business Profile with a personal Google Account. The feature is not yet available for Google Workspace accounts or users in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area.
For local businesses, the rollout could simplify many routine tasks that previously required navigating several Google products. Managing business information, analysing customer reviews and checking performance metrics can now be handled through a conversational AI interface, potentially reducing the time spent on day-to-day profile management.
For digital marketing agencies, the update also creates new opportunities to support clients with AI-assisted local SEO, review management and Business Profile optimisation as the technology becomes more widely available.
What happens next?
Google says the Gemini Business Profile integration and Business notebooks will continue rolling out globally to eligible users. As access expands, more businesses are expected to gain AI-powered tools for managing their online presence, while Google is also planning future availability for Workspace accounts and businesses in the UK and European Economic Area.
